Mika recently celebrated her birthday with our friends, and grandma and grandpa Lynch also joined us on that weekend. 
On 30 September, Ami completed her first 5k run.  Mika and I were joined by Susanne, Ev, Kristin, and Tristan to form Ami's cheering section near the finish line at Haines Point.  (Thanks for coming out to support Ami!)
Good work, Ami!!

Well, the swim season is officially over.  We had a great summer teaching Mika to swim (well at least be comfortable in water).  Next week is her first birthday.  I can't belive we've been posting Mika's pictures and videos for almost one year.  She's been trying to really talk and is now confidently walking without our help.  She's quickly learing new signs every week.  We feel like we need to learn new signs ourselves so we can teach her some new ones.  

Tons of new pictures are posted and here are more videos.  One on the left is of her signing and the other is of her opening her mouth when she hears a "meow".  (Don't know why she doesn't actually say "meow" herself.  She does lots of unexplainable things...)

New photos!!  Mika is now 10 months old.  She's not walking yet but is getting pretty close.  She walks by holding onto walls, furniture, etc.  She still enjoys swimming very much.
Mika and we had a great time seeing our family and friends in Connecticut and Ohio.

Mika just passed her 9 month birthday last week.  After mastering crawling last month, Mika's now pulling herself up to stand up.
Mika graduated from her Waterbabies class just a few weekends ago.
She’s been enjoying eating solids, particularly mangos, peas, carrots, and bread.

In May, Mika learned to crawl. She’s quite fast, so Ami and I need to keep our eyes on her and start baby-proofing our apartment.
Mika had a lot of fun with both of our parents, who were in town last weekend for Ami’s hooding ceremony for her doctorate degree and graduation party.
Grandpa Neal joined Mika at the waterbabies class on Saturday. Mika was glad that she could safely swim by grabbing onto Grandpa Neal’s chest hair.

Tons of more pictures.  We were in Ohio a few weeks ago visiting our cousins.  Mika's getting ready to crawl, so maybe by next month, we'll have some pictures of her moving around.

Mika is 6 months old today and now weights 16lbs 2 ozs.  As you can see in her new pictures, she's getting better at eating solids.  Grandma and Grandpa Lynch also flew down this month to see her.

Over the last two weeks Mika rolled over for the first time and tried her first peas, carrots, sweet potatoes, apples, and pears.  She’s also learning to have a great time in the Jumperoo.

Mika was busy hanging out with her great aunts Jackie and Marie from Ohio.  While they were in town, we met with Ami's second cousin Walt Mika and his family for the first time (please see March 2006 entry for "Mika" name connection).  Walt shared his thorough knowledge about Ami's great grandparents and their hometown in Poland.

New photos of Mika's first foot grab and rice cereal!  She's been going through the 4 month growth spurt, so she's been eating a lot more food. 
Grandma Lynch won the "Pick-Mika's-4 month-weight" contest.  Mika weighed 11 lbs 14 ozs. during her check-up on Monday.

Back in October on one of her first outings, Mika met President Bush and Mr. Hadley, the National Security Advisor, at the White House.  Fortunately for Ami and I, Mika behaved very well and didn't cry or fall asleep.

December 30th was Mika's 100th Day Birthday (google "Korean 100th Day Birthday").  Although the Korean tradition for the baby's 1 year birthday is to put objects, like money, book, pencil, and so forth, in front of the baby to reach for which determines their "future", we decided to have fun and do it for her 100th day birthday.  Since she can't really reach for any objects yet, Ami and I, along with our friends and family in Connecticut, went with what she seemed to be looking at the most.  Her future appears that it will be something related to music because she was very interested in an Elvis CD. 

Ami and Mika also gave me a surprise Christmas present of Mika's 1st picture with Santa.

Mika had her first Thanksgiving over the weekend.  She's continuing to grow well, and she'll be meeting her harmony and harabuhji (grandma and grandpa) from Vegas this week for the first time.

More photos finally!  We moved to a new apartment and were quite busy over the last several weeks.  We're almost done unpacking, so we hope to post more pictures of Mika. 

Our friends Josh and Lluvia also has a website with pictures of their baby girl Layla.

Mika is continuing to grow and is very healthy.  We think she smiled for the first time.   It could have been an accidental smile.  We're not 100% sure.  We're also not getting much sleep, although it's getting better, so we just may be seeing things. 
And another quilt square has been added.

Mika Yoonsook Lynch-Lee
was born on September 20, 2006 at 10:50 PM in Arlington. 
She weighed 6 lbs. 15 oz. and measured 19 2/3" long.

We've asked some of our family and friend to design a quilt square for Mika as part of the baby shower.  We've received so many personal and creative messages on the squares, which we hope to put together later.

We picked her name!  "Mika Yoonsook Lynch-Lee" -- "Mika" is the family name of Ami's maternal grandmother's parents who came to the U.S. through Ellis Island from Poland.  "Yoonsook" is Sang's mom's name that translates as an honest and pure person.
